Memphis Grizzlies rookie center Zach Edey’s return to the court has been delayed due to his injured left ankle. Edey initially suffered the injury on November 17 in a win over the Denver Nuggets and has since missed nine games.
The Grizzlies were hoping Edey would be ready to return to action, but after testing his ankle, they decided to hold him back. Coach Taylor Jenkins stated that Edey was sent down to the Memphis Hustle to work out with the Grizzlies’ G League team, but they weren’t comfortable with his progress.
Edey, the ninth pick in the 2024 NBA draft, has been averaging 11.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. The Grizzlies are taking a cautious approach with his injury, and it’s expected that he’ll be out for at least another couple of weeks.
